I was away this last week in Jamaica, and I had hoped to post some international camera photos for the first time like some others such as studio2f have done. Everything started out fine as I was able to post successfully from the tarmac at JFK. But when I got to Jamaica everything went downhill.
First off, stupidly I forgot to turn on world service on my T-Mobile so I couldn't roam on the network. I have an unlocked T610, so I didn't think I needed to turn anything on, since the phone was unlocked. I paid for internet service at the hotel to email T-Mobile to turn this on, which they couldn't guarantee that they could do since I was out of the country. I also had arranged for the concierge at our hotel to get a local prepaid SIM card from Digicel, Jamaica's local provider. T-Mobile was able to turn on the international phone service, and I was able to roam freely on the two providers in Jamaica. I also was able to get the SIM card, so I was able to communicated cheaply back to the states if needed. But sadly, Jamaica does not have GPRS service yet. Ain't that a kicker. So I was unable to send any MMS messages.
The posted images below are ones that I had captured during my time there, but was unable to post until I got back to the states because of the lack of service. Only the JFK one is actually posted in real time. Oh well, perhaps next time I'll get to go somewhere that actually has a more modern cell network.
