Should California exist?

california fire

There are many places on this Earth where you can question the reality of people existing there, California is quickly becoming one of them. With the constant threat of Earthquakes, Wildfires, Smog, Extreme temperatures and Arnold as governator it seems that California isn't supposed to be the attractive location it is made out to be. Either that or some higher being is trying to wipe out Hollywood. I have many friends and family that live out there, so I'm not wishing these type of events on anyone, it's just a shame to have to worry about these type of things, but I guess you have potential disasters anywhere.

what I learned today

Came home from work today, and the internet wasn't working. after reseting it numerous times, connecting directly to the modem instead of through the router, I gave up and decided to try something new.

I have Earthlink Cable service, and while it does offer dialup I didn't have a NYC local number because I never dial-up when I am in NYC. But I remembered that I could connect with my T610, so I connected my Bluetooth to the phone, transfered my settings for my dialup to my Bluetooth panel, and gave it ago. I used my free minutes on the phone, so I didn't incure any of the long distance charges I would have recieved had I used the direct line. It was speeds of 56k, which is good in an emergency.

I decided to take it one step further.

elliott smith gone

singer song writer elliott smith was found dead yesterday in his apartment in LA. A single "self-inflicted" knife wound seems to be the cause, although they are investigating all options.

He was a great meloncholy singer that I will miss. I thank Wes Anderson for introducing me and I'm sure many others to him, as his song "Needle in the Hay" was in the The Royal Tenenbaums movie. I was all set to see him perform at the Field Day Fest that was shoddily put together and eventually canceled. Bummed, I missed my chance.

Well it's bound to happen sooner or later, SonyEricsson released the z600, a replacement for the T610. It's clamshell, and a bit thicker than the T610, but it has a better screen that means the screen in the sunlight will be easier to read. Perhaps an eBay purchase of the screen will change that disadvantage.

Thanksfully someone sent me the new themes for the phone, so I can pretend to still have the latest.
